Abstract

The vehicle ride and handling analysis is one of the important aspects in vehicle dynamics. This project deals with an investigation into the influence of effect stiffness spring and development of the Formula Varsity Malaysia suspension. The study compared in terms of their relative performance and its capabilities. Results from the previous study are used to select the best spring for the suspension system particularly; quantification and type of the spring. The FV car is used to conduct the experimental work. The performance of the FV car tests have been evaluated, based upon on the racing development practice, braking, acceleration and cornering test schedule, in which the ability of the model spring to predict the spring to be use on FV car for the tournaments. Finally, a parametric study is also presented to show that the stiffness crucial to determine the suitable for the suspension system. The results indicate the dynamic performance of the race car and demonstrated into the FV car. The responses from cornering experiments can be used to identify the parameters of stiffness spring and the parameters of the car can be tuned to give the best dynamic performance for race.
