Abstract

Flange Resurface Machine is a machine used to cut the pipe surface that would be joint with gasket. The pipe surface must has a certain roughness in accordance with specifications prior to the merger made. The surface roughness is to ensure the joining of the two pipes and gasket is secure and no leakage. Perfect Emerald Sdn. Bhd. is a small medium industry (SMI) involve in oil and gas maintenance required this Flange Resurface Machine to do their sophisticated job but the machine is very expensive. The objective of this research is to design and analysis of arm assembly of the Flange Resurface Machine and develop the design into 2D drawing. The process of design and analysis of arm assembly is done by using several method. The first method is optimization done by using Solid Thinking software and continue design by using Catia software. Analysis is the last process where to determine the compatibility of the material and design. The analysis process is done by using Hyperwork software. The result of the analysis determine the design and the material selection is compatible and safe. As conclusion for this research, the design is safe and 2D drawing were develop successfully.
