In manufacturing industry area, there are two parameters that need to be controlled, it is surface roughness and tool wear. A minimum surface roughness and tool wear is the desired parameters for a machining process. In order to achieve an optimum value for surface roughness and tool wear, the crucial machining parameter that need to be controlled is the cutting speed of the machining process, followed by feed rate and lastly the depth of cut of the workpiece specimen. These three significant limitations play as the important role especially for this experimental investigation. A Tool Steel is the raw material and the workpiece cut in dry condition of machining. This experimental progression conducted by a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Turning machine in dry condition. The variable of cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut of machining value is the input of this process specification, while the result output is the data record of surface roughness and tool wear. The result of surface roughness,Ra that obtain by the Surface Roughness Tester, and the tool wear value that obtain by using the Optical Microscope shows the ideal suggestion of parameters, by using a new cutter development of Alumina-based Ceramic cutting tool.
