Abstract

Supplying electric to a rural are very difficult especially when the area are at mountains or island. The electricity source look forward by those a very importantly needed such as aboriginals. This paper focus on the aboriginal community in Rumah Selat Lai, Bintangor, Sarawak which have 120 Ibans that lack of the electricity supply. The project aimed to design the Stand-Alone Solar Photovoltaic System that can be used for the rural communities and to identify the sizing of battery and sizing for design the product. The Stand-Alone PV that is being used will be a silicon based element. To design this product, software such as AutoCAD, Multisim are been used. The product basically has handling and a wheel. This solar PV will be mounted 45º indicated angle for optimized performance. PVGIS software has been used to identify the percentage of day battery fully charged and discharged. PVGIS is software of Photovoltaic Geographical Information System whereby user can mole out the performance of the solar panel which will be used before install it in reality. This software will be interpreting data such how much energy will be harvest by the solar panel by one year period with its own kind of characteristics. Apart From That, Gaisma software has been used to identify the time frame for sunrise, sunset, dawn and also dusk time around the globe.
