Abstract

Water is one of the most important elements in earth. At least 75% of earth’s surface is covered by water. Water is very important in human life because it is a requirement in the public, domestic, ranch, commercial and industrial sectors. An effectively and efficiently water supply system is required to consumers. Water used in the domestic sector, covering approximately 40% to 60% of the country's water supply. Some examples of the use of water for domestic sector such cooking, drinking, bathing, washing, watering the garden and washing clothes. Water filters are now already in the market, but existing filters require regular maintenance to ensure efficient rainwater filter is always in optimum condition. The purpose of this study is to design and develop a water filter system that has a self-cleaning system which can trap the rain water from the rooftop to the rainwater storage tank is done without the need of regular maintenance. This filter function as to filter water from impurities, usually found on the roof of the house such as grains of sand, leaves, moss roof, etc. as well as removes impurities without disturbing the efficiency of the device. This water will generally be used for various purposes except for drinking and food preparation. With the system of self-cleaning available on this device, maintenance of users will be minimized. Along with the tropical climate experienced by our country, filtration and rainwater harvesting itself is very important to avoid water wastage and saving the payment of bill. In addition, by utilizing rain water we can reduce inhibition of widespread environmental contamination, such as flood, water pollution and soil erosion.
