Abstract

Nowadays, DC motor is used widely in our industries even in our daily basis. In some instances, conveyer machine, computer numeric controlled machine, fan, mixer, toy car and so on. The reason why DC motor is mostly used in plenty of applications is because of its ability to control the parameter such as speed. The accuracy and precision of the DC motor must be in high level condition to ensure the system went well during undergo work process. The performance of DC motor actually depends on the control approaches which have distinction between each controller. This is because DC motor has its own weakness which cannot function well in its dynamical system in term of against with uncertainty and external disturbance. In this project, Sliding Mode Control approach is used as a controller to control DC motor model that can be controlled properly without affected by unwanted environment factor. The evaluation of the controller can be evaluated by comparing the Sliding Mode Controller with Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller which each of its obtained from the mathematical modeling and tuning method respectively. The DC motor speed control of OPENLABBOX is used as hardware to implement the SMC and PID controller which is simulated by using Scicoslab software in Control System Laboratory. By that way, the robustness of the systems can be attained. So, the achievement should be successful where the DC motor must be function well and resist from uncertainty and external disturbance.
