In this project, a multi-position clamping vise for milling machine will be designed and fabricate. A milling machine vise is one of the fundamental working device used on the milling machine. It is a workholding devise that bolted to milling machine. It secure and hold the workpiece firmly for machining operation. It is bascially build up with two jaw plates which is adjustable where it is able to hold workpiece of different size. A usual machine vise enables machinist to work only the top surface of the workpiece at once and some problem will be occur for certain workpiece that need to runs machining operation in few surface. The objective of this project is to generate concepts and develop a clamping vise for milling machine. The clamping vise will be fabricate as well by using different types of manufacturing process. To achieve the objective of this project, starting with concept generations where different patents of the machine vise was study and brainstorming to develop several concepts to solve the problem statement. Design of the developed clamping vise was visualize by using solid modeling software. Simulations and examinations was done on the solid model to make sure the vise is usable. Manufacturing processes will be conduct to fabricate the clamping vise. Manufacturing processes that invlove in fabrication of the clamping vise includes milling process, turning process, drilling, and also grinding process. The project will have a outcome of a milling machine clamping vise that ease the machinist while working with machine vise.
