Automated featute recogailion is considered a critical component for the w o nof Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP). In feature recognition most current systems have difficulties in recognizing intetacting features because of the destructon of cbn&erMc adjacency relationships in the feature boundaries when interadion occur. Therefore in response to the problem, the application of rule based method is outlined in this research for the implementation to specifiic f mwith and *ut intersection. This need to be extended to thin wall parts, to suppmt design for man* fbr injection molding and casting process which have stme commonly used feature to be recognized especially f m with intersect The proposed method is implemented to the f m with and without intemction such as thugh hole, cylinder boss, blind hole and other six cylinder boss with spe&ic inters&& f m . Three selected plastic parts with several common molding fbatures also has been used far the case study. The proposed method is tested using Graphics Interrsctive Progmmmhg (GRIP), and implemented on the Unigraphics solid modelers. The results show that the proposed method is sllccessfUl in ~~ the selected fhtures with awl without intemxtion especially for cylindrical
