Abstract

Physical activity and physical fitness involvement are the vital components in ensuring students' health. The aim of this study is to examine the level of physical activity and physical fitness among Iban female students in Sarawak. The study sample consists of 239 Iban female students in Meradong district, Sarawak. Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) version II has been used as the instrument for this study. Cross sectional survey research method by using questionnaire form to collect the findings. A total of 239 students are found to be active in physical activity involvement level. So, 69 female students are active in physical activity and 82 female students are active in moderate intensity physical activity. There are 111 students in normal body mass index range. Correlation Pearson analysis shows that there is no significant relationship between physical activity level MPA (r=0.013; p > 0.05 = 0.756), VPA (r=0.020; p > 0.05 = 0.759 and TPA (r=0.013; p > 0.05 = 0.756) with and BMI among Iban students are r = 0.001; p > 0.05 = 0.700. The findings of this study conclude that involvement of active physical activity has no positive relationship with body mass index during pandemic.
