Abstract

Generally, any variation in stiffness of the gear mesh cause vibrations in a gearbox. This work will present A three-dimensional simulated model to predict the vibration and noise radiation from the housing of gear train box vibrations at a specific driver shaft speed. The simulation is achieved by the use of COMSOL Multiphysics program based on the finite element method. An initial multibody dynamics study is carried out to calculate house vibrations at a specific driver shaft speed. Then, acoustic analysis is done utilizing the housing’s normal acceleration as a noise source to calculate the sound pressure levels in the near, distant, and exterior fields. The study is implemented under Time to Frequency fast Fourier transform (FFT) method on the frequency domain. The results illustrated the sound pressure level of exterior-field in each coordinate plane through 180O angle range.
