Abstract
Thermoacoustics offers alternative technology for energy conversion devices but keeping the performance attractive is challenging especially when the flow dynamics is less understood. This paper reports the experimental data that shows the presence of the flow streaming that was induced by vibration on a standing-wave thermoacoustic test setup with flow frequency of 23.6 Hz. The additional flow was calculated based on the displacements recorded on the resonator at the upstream and downstream locations of the test section that placed a porous structure known as the stack. Additional flow vector, with maximum amplitude of 2 × 10–3 m/s was recorded. Therefore, the difference between theory and experiment is expected to be influenced by this additional flow streaming in the thermoacoustic environment.
