Abstract
This paper shares the development of a disabled person monitoring system by a personalized glove using ESP32 board. The disabled person need was monitored through the personalized glove that was fixed with flex sensors for each finger; where for each hand gesture detected by the system, the respective output will be displayed on the LCD and by the speaker that plays the related command. The hand gesture was detected based on the flex sensors resistance value produced depending on the finger's bending movement. The developed system had been tested and resulted in 90% accuracy for the hand gesture recognition through the threshold set for the system. Later if the system is to be used for a specific user, the threshold value for each finger's flex sensor can be adjusted accordingly to increase the accuracy of the personalized glove monitoring system. The work shared in this paper shows that a disabled person needs can be conveyed through a glove fixed with flex sensors as the disabled person user interface, eliminating the need of the person to reach for specific button or devices to signal their alerts.
