Abstract
This paper introduces a novel design for a single-layer reflectarray antenna capable of dual resonance operation specifically targeted for 28/38 GHz 5G communication systems. The design incorporates a rectangular ring-loaded patch integrated into a conventional microstrip reflectarray, enabling the antenna to achieve dual resonance at the desired frequencies. Furthermore, a comprehensive parametric study was conducted to investigate the impact of significant dimensions within the design and characterization of different material properties. The study involved thorough analysis using a commercially available CST computer model. The fabricated design configurations were implemented on a substrate with a thickness of 0.51 mm, specifically using Rogers Duroid 5880 material. The simulated results indicate that the proposed unit cell element resonates at two different frequencies (28/38 GHz) and obtained promising return loss S(1,1) and reflection phase that can be used in designing a reflectarray antenna design for future communication systems.
