Abstract

In garment manufacturing, pattern generation is the first step for garment manufacture. This is usually produced by highly skilled patterners. The 2D patterns are based on the individual body measurement. Thus, depending on the various skill levels and the inevitably subjective fitness evaluation criteria of the patterners, this procedure may take considerable time to produce a satisfactory pattern. Therefore, in garment pattern making, computer-aided system can speed-up significantly the procedure in the construction of cutting pattern for garment. Garment cutting pattern construction can be done using a computer by following individual body measurement. This project presents one of the possible methods in computer-aided construction of garment pattem The project will focus on creating 2D garment pattern using GRIP as programming language and Unigraphics software as an interactive window for pattern design construction. The system developed in this dissertation project has resulted in automatic computer-aided construction of 2D garment pattern design to fit individual body measurements.
