Broadband Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) are an integrated component of most RF systems. With modem communication standards these devices need to be highly linear. The primary aims of this report are to document the learning process involved in the design and testing of a broadband amplifier that been used between at 2GHz till 10 GHz operating frequency. The design objectives of the broadband amplifier are to meet the specifications of overall gain at 30 dB ± 2dB , the reflection coefficient , S 11 and S22 below -10 dB and the Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) below ·2. The power amplifier also needs to be input and output matched to 500 impedance. . The design will use transistor LP6836 manufactured by Filtronic Semiconductor. ·This project involved familiarization and utilization of a RF CAD tool, Advanced Design System ADS2004A. Various learning curves for different elements set as the aims of the project.. The understandable in design techniques such as the different kind of broadband, the microwave transistor devices and others are used in the development of microwave and RF circuits was develop throughout the design process.
