Abstract

Wayfinding is the process of searching or route finding from one location to a destination in a familiar or unfamiliar environment. During fire evacuation in a building, safest and shortest wayfinding is a big challenge faced by people who are not familiar with the building. The complexity of floor plan layout causes the greatest influence towards indoor wayfinding. This study, address the human safety issue related to emergency responses personnel and people who are familiar with the particular building. Currently, when the fire panel triggers the alarm continuously, they will react as wayfinding agent to help other occupants evacuate and navigate them to the nearest exit. Despite, in some circumstances, these practices are contradicted with the main goal in the case of emergency; to save lives and reduce the number of injuries and casualties. Even the intentions is good, unfortunately it may exposed themselves to the risks and dangers during the evacuation process. Therefore, we proposed a conceptual model for autonomous intelligent evacuation for wayfinding during emergency event in order to eliminate human as an agent.
