Abstract
A NOVEL TECHNIQUE FOR ESTIMATING THE IFTOF MINERAL TRANSFORMER OIL SAMPLES, USING UV-VIS SPECTROSCOPY IS DESCRIBE IN THIS PAPER. IT IS KNOWN THAT THERE IS A STRONG CORRELATION BETWEEN THE IFT OF THE OIL AND TWO OF ITS SPECTRAL RESPONSE PARAMETERS, NAMELY BANDWIDTH AND PEAK ABSORBANCE. TWO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE MODELS TO MAP THIS CORRELATION ARE DEVELOPED. THIS TECHNIQUE OFFERS THE ADVANTAGES THAT IT CAN BE USED ON SITE, DOES NOT NEED SPECIALLY TRAINED PERSONNEL TO MAKE THE MEASUREMENTS, HAS NEGLIGIBLE RUNNING COSTS, AND CAN BE READILY IMPLEMENTED ON-LINE FOR CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF THE CONDITION OF THE OIL.
