Abstract

This paper presents a monopole antenna design for WiMAX at 3.2-3.8 GHz and 5.2-5.8 GHz as well as WLAN application at 5.15-5.35 GHz and 5.725-5.825 GHz. The antenna proposed is constructed by a standing rectangular patch structure fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding technique. In addition with the antenna structure, there is an extended ground plane used for enhancing the performance bandwidth of the antenna. This antenna provides a wideband covering WiMAX and WLAN application from 2.88 GHz to 6.41 GHz with return loss lower than -10 dB. Besides that, the antenna has achieved minimum 1.5 dB antenna’s gain and 2.39 dBi antenna’s directivity along the operating frequency band. Moreover, this antenna can offer high radiating power as it has achieved antenna’s total efficiency more than 80 percent.
