Abstract
Natural Sunlight with the covering glass or plastic would be the most famous method for drying herbs such Andrographis Paniculata for the farmers in Thailand. However, this method requires long drying time of 3-4 days. This paper proposes an improved sun drying by using Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as the covering material in cooperated with the exhaust revolutionary air system. The PTFE allows higher drying temperature even the absence of sunlight than the conventional method while the exhaust revolutionary air accelerates moisture dissipation. The experimental test-rig was constructed and the test results in terms drying temperature and humidity were analyzed and compared between the proposed methods and conventional methods. It is found that the proposed method achieved reducing drying time to be about 6 hours with the desired drying temperature of 45-55°C and had low humidity than the standard value of 11 %.
