Abstract
Tube bending processes are widely used to manufacture parts in aerospace, automotive, oil and other industries. During the bending process the tube undergoes considerable in-plane distortion. The limitations in the tube bending process are distortion of cross-section, wrinkling, variation in wall thickness, spring back and fracture. This paper presents the investigation into the use of simulation software to determine the best solution for tube bending and comparison of angle in order to eliminate the limitations. The result showed the angle from 300 to 600 shows a constant value of displacement for every method of bending. Based on the conducted analysis, bending with axial pull and bending with combination of axial pull and internal pressure shows a drop of displacement value. This method could participate in improving the quality of product compare to traditional method. Furthermore, the proposed alternatives could eliminate larger displacement and strengthen the finish product by increasing the stress value on finish product. As a result, optimization details on the current Rotary Tube bending has been developed.
