Abstract

Palm oil biodiesel (POME) has become more popular energy sources due it renewable and sustainable nature. Various blend ratio of palm oil biodiesel or Palm Oil Methyl Ester (POME) has been investigated in internal combustion engine by many researchers around the globe. One of the parameters investigated includes its effect on fuel injection behavior with different POME blend ratio in the fuel delivery system. The main objective in this study is to investigate the effect of different POME biodiesel fuel blend (B7, B 10 and B30-MPOB) on opening pressure, flash point and spray pattern and to characterize injector behavior effect of biodiesel content on flash point, opening pressure and spray pattern. This study investigated variations of biodiesel blends involving B7, B I O, and B30-MPOB to understand how changes in the biodiesel blend affect the spray pattern. It is important to characterize the spray pattern's behavior to analyze its detailed parameter. Outcome of this experiment is to study the fuel injector spray pattern, opening pressure, analyze biodiesel blend ratio and flash point. The effect of nozzle spray length on the spray characteristics of B30 biofuel blends is examined and compared to B7 and B 10 biodiesel. In addition, a validation and verification based on both experimental and numerical results are provided. The length of spray tip penetration for B30 biodiesel was longer than Euro2 and Euro5 biodiesel due to its high viscosity.
