Abstract

This book captures the transformative journey of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building project UNITED, a collaborative initiative that brought together institutions from the European Union (EU) and Southeast Asia (SEA) to strengthen automotive engineering education and enhance graduate employability. The project was designed to address the evolving needs of the automotive industry by fostering international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and regional capacity building. As a principal partner, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) played a central role in shaping the technical and pedagogical aspects of the project. One of the key achievements of the UNITED project was the establishment and operation of Engineering Knowledge Transfer Units (EKTUs). These units served as hubs for knowledge exchange, innovation, and practical training, bridging the gap between academia and industry. UTeM's leadership in this endeavour ensured that the EKTUS became a cornerstone of the project, providing students and educators with hands-on experience and cutting-edge resources. The UNITED project was built on a shared vision of empowering future engineers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global market. By fostering collaboration between EU and SEA institutions, the project aimed to address educational gaps and align curricula with industry demands. This alignment was crucial in preparing graduates for the challenges and opportunities of the automotive sector, ensuring they were not only technically proficient but also globally competitive.
