Abstract

Inline Filling Systems has various machines designed for all types of packaging such as bottle, pail, intermediate bulk container (IBC) and drum. These drum filling systems is available in chemical duty in either top fill only or bottom up fill (subsurface) configurations. This project is mainly focus on the functional fluid filling into the drum container. Top drum filling configurations are less expensive but limited to non-foaming bulk products. Bottom up drum filling configurations are very flexible systems capable of filling almost any bulk product within a wide range of foamy characteristics and viscosities. The top fill and bottom fill drum filling systems use fill integrated scale and powered pallet roller conveyor. System operates with minimal operator involvement. Due to current challenges, improvement need to be made on the drum filling machine system specifically at Melaka Lube Blending Plant (MLBP) located in Kawasan Perindustrian Tangga Batu, Melaka. There is a requirement to improve and increase productivity of the production to avoid possible delay in supply to the customer. Currently the drum filling line operates with semi-automatic line, this line cannot produce more output against current spiking customer demand which triggered extra working hour to fulfill the demand which impact on the plant productivity. The project for the new drum filling line is a way to align with the overall business plan of MLBP which emphasis on productivity alongside safety. The outcome of this proposal shall to get approval for capital expenditure (CapEx) budget to install a new Drum Filling Line (DFL) at MLBP with the capacity of 100 drum per hour to provide a benefit estimated growth of 8.0 % per annum.
