Abstract
The main objective of this work is to study the effect of electrochemical parameters on the surface morphology, phase, crystal structure and electronic structure of TiO2 nanotubes by anodization method and to study the effect of synthesis parameters on the format ion o f Co3O4-TiO2 bi-component nanotubes via wet impregnation method. Later the photocatalytic activity of Co3O4-TiO2 is investigate under ultraviolet irradiation. Anodization method will be adopted to form TiO2 nanotubes followed by Co3O4 deposit ion via wet impregnation method. The results have shown that the ethylene glycol is the suitable electrolyte to be used for the formation of well aligned nanotube. The optimum vo ltage for the for mat ion of TiO2 nanotubes was determined to be 60 V and anodization time was kept at 30 min. Wet impregnation have shown that incorporation of Co content on the TiO2 nanotubes is higher when immersed in higher precursor molarity. The introduction of cobalt species into the TiO2 nanotubes might contribute to the extension of the absorption range to visible light range.
