Abstract
Lean manufacturing is a strategy to reduce the shortest possible cycle time by eliminating waste. It is derived from the Toyota Production System. The key thrust is to increase value added work by reducing waste and incidental work. The benefits generally are lower costs, higher quality and shorter lead times.
