Abstract

This book covers advanced concepts and applications of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) with a focus on OMRON systems. Chapter One introduces PLC fundamentals, historical background, system configuration, unit specifications, and advantages, as well as input and output device connections and wiring diagrams. Chapter Two explains basic programming using the CX-Programmer software, including I/O memory addressing and the development of holding circuits using internal relays and instructions such as KEEP, SET, and RSET. Chapter Three discusses the use of timer (TIM), counter (CNT), interlock (IL, ILC), and jump (JMP, JME) instructions. Chapter Four focuses on bit control instructions such as DIFU and DIFD, while Chapter Five addresses mathematical instructions including signed binary and BCD numbers, addition, subtraction, increment, decrement, and comparison. Chapter Six introduces data movement instructions, followed by Chapter Seven on real-time clock (RTC) functions and related instructions such as CADD, CSUB, SEC, HMS, DATE, and time comparison. The final chapter explains the shift register (SFT) function, memory in CP1E PLCs, and simulation of sequential programming applications. This book is designed for students, technicians, and engineers seeking to enhance their PLC programming skills through a balanced approach of theory and hands-on practice.
